WHY BE CATHOLIC?
APOLOGETICS FOR THE NEW EVANGELISATION
SUMMER CONFERENCE: 19 – 21 JUNE 2020
Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence.
1 Pet 3:15
Catholics often have a profound sense of the faith; but equally often, they have difficulty explaining the reasons for their faith (and their hope) when asked questions or when challenged.
St Peter, our first pope, admonishes us to be always ready (prepared) to make an apologia (a defense) for the hope that we have in Christ Jesus.
This three day conference will equip students with the basic priniciples needed to begin making this kind of preparation. We will look at specific questions and treat concrete examples. We will examine Biblical arguments as well as arguments from reason. We will learn how to deal with some of the most difficult questions of our time.
In this Year of the Word, the Academy of the Annunciation invites you to come and learn how to give credible answers to difficult questions. In the process of learning how to answer the questions of others, your own faith will be edified and your hope strengthened.
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
ACTS 2:42
During this conference, we follow in the footsteps of the early Christians, studying together, praying together, and being nourished together at the Eucharistic Banquet. There are also opportunities to enjoy social time and fellowship with staff members, fellow disciples, and the Oratory Fathers.
Places are limited. Please register as soon as possible to ensure you have a reserved place.
Cost for the Conference (including accommodation, meals, and parking): £465.
This Conference begins on Friday morning and ends on Sunday afternoon. If you would like to extend the hotel booking of your room (at the discounted rate) on either the previous (Thursday), or following (Sunday) night(s), or both, please contact us.
